This certificate program is to support and mentor the practitioner growing their skills in empathic listening, layer palpation, holistic integration of systems and includes 3 individual 30 minute mentoring sessions for the learner to support integration of the work with 8 Modules/Video Lectures. Start Date TBA Fall 2024 Somatic Touch is based on research conducted by Dr. Kirstie to support the hypothesis that somatic touch is an effective form of treatment for individuals with PTSD/CPTSD. The work integrates different modalities of touch therapy such as craniosacral, structural integration, massage, manual osteopathy, visceral, neural, energy work and more. This is a holistic approach to supporting clients to build more resilience and adaptability in their lives. Themes that will be addressed in the modules and video content: • What is Somatic Touch? • What does it mean to be Trauma Informed and Trauma Trained now? • Defining PTSD/CPTSD. • Defining Neurodivergent and Neurocomplexity and overlap with PTSD/CPTSD. • Defining Autism Spectrum Disorder and overlap with PTSD/CPTSD. • How to treat the holistic systems. • What is Fascia and how to treat with current science, not outdated models of understanding. • How does the nervous system function and debunking Polyvagal theory and more to get the science accurate in these times. • Hands-On Methods. • Listening--what is it and how to do it! • Mentoring sessions--3 individual mentoring session 30 minutes each. Upon completion students will receive a certificate of completion in being trauma informed and trauma trained as Somatic Touch practitioner. This course is approved for Structural Integration Continuing Education with IASI 2024. Total of 12 Continuing Education Hours. This program meets requirements for CEUs for the New Mexico Massage Board.
